I was having the same issue last Saturday afternoon. I have an Apple iPhone 4 OS 5.1.1. Telenav GPS Navigator Version 5.9.3i.26. Carrier Verizon.-
Hi there, have you tried soft resetting the device by holding the home and power button at the same time until the device resets?
Try this step and retry the application in an open area to see if this helps. -

I have the iPhone 4s, version 5.1.1, same telenav version as Jeff above, same carrier. I did try the soft reset, but eventually had to download another navigator service to get to LaGuardia airport to pick someone up.
